He is a lifelong Charlotte resident. Averill and his wife Johanna have one daughter, Lauren, a graduate of UNC.   Averill is active at Myers Park Presbyterian Church where he has served several terms as an Elder. He has chaired numerous Church committees and served as Chair of a successful 2008 $30,000,000 capital campaign.   He has served on the Board and as President of Sharon Towers. He has also served on the Board of Park Meridian Bank where he served as Loan Committee Chair. He currently serves on the Board of Park Sterling Bank and serves also in the capacity as Loan Committee Chair.   After graduating in 1979, Averill joined the firm where his father and brother were practicing.   "I think our firm's size is a real strength for our clients," says Averill.
